RegalGraze Ladino Clover
regal_graze.jpg
With OverGraze ProtectionTM!

The 1st Ladino Clover With Grazing Tolerance!

Leaf Size and Canopy Height

RegalGraze is a true ladino clover. Leaf size and canopy height of RegalGraze is significantly larger than Patriot, an intermediate ecotype-cross product and Durana, a white Dutch ecotype product. RegalGraze has 35% more top growth than Patriot and 59% more than Durana giving it much more visual appeal to livestock and wild game.

Leaf size of RegalGraze is approximately double the size of Patriot and more than three times larger than Durana. Larger leaves mean more total leaf area and a leafier canopy to attract big game.

Given the choice, wildlife and cattle prefer the taste of RegalGraze over these other white clovers.

Patriot Clover

Type: cool season perennial

Uses: Rackmaster® Patriot White Clover is another new white clover on the market for whitetail deer management. Patriot is a cross between Durana and a ladino type. It was developed by Dr. Joe Bouton, University of Georgia, to be very productive forage and persist under grazing pressure, tolerate acidic soils, compete aggressively with weeds and grasses and to tolerate low management situations. Patriot is pre-inoculated and lime coated for easy seeding and optimal nitrogen fixation. Patriot will outlast conventional ladino clovers in food plots, produce just as much forage and persist for years on good moisture holding soils. With protein levels of over 25% and digestibility of over 75%, Patriot will make an excellent pure stand or combination planting for any food plot to feed, attract and hold game on your property.

OASIS FORAGE CHICORY
chicory.jpg
Oasis forage chicory is a broad leaved perennial herb that has been bred for improved disease resistance, which significantly increases survival under grazing. Protein levels in chicory range from 10% to 32%, depending on plant maturity. Digestibility of chicory leaves is generally between 90% and 95%. Chicory contains relatively high levels of minerals (potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, zinc, and sodium) which are essential for proper animal nutrition. Chicory also has a deep taproot which provides excellent drought tolerance. All of these characteristics combine to make Oasis chicory an ideal choice for wildlife food plots. In the South, plant in the spring or fall. Plant seeds no deeper than to inch. It is important to have good seed-to-soil contact and not have the seed planted to deep. Oasis chicory should be planted at the rate of 4-5 lbs per acre. For mixtures, plant 2 to 3 lbs.Oasis chicory performs best in pH levels of 5.6 or greater. It may therefore be necessary to raise the pH by broadcasting lime. Broadcast 300 lbs of 10-10-10 per acre at initial planting. If chicory is grown without a legume (clover or alfalfa), apply 100-150lbs of Nitrogen per acre per year in split applications of 50 lbs per acre. The first application should be in made in early spring, the second in early summer, and the third in early fall. If chicory is planted with a legume, annual Nitrogen applications should be restricted.Ungrazed seed stalks in the summer should be mowed off to stimulate new leaf growth.

Southern Belle Red Clover
Southern Belle.jpg
Southern Belle' ('FLMR7') is an improved 'Cherokee' red clover with increased root knot nematode and powdery mildew resistance, similar dormancy response to Cherokee and high, early forage yield. Southern Belle is superior to all known red clover cultivars in resistance to common root-knot nematode species, including the Northern Root-Knot Nematode (M. hapla). In field cultivar evaluation experiments, Southern Belle had equal or superior resistance to powdery mildew, caused by Erysiphe polygoni, as Cherokee and other mid- and late-dormant cultivars such as 'Cinnamon', Southern Bell has been shown to be equal to Cherokee in northern anthracnose susceptibility. Southern Belle is a very early spring-maturing variety that has high forage potential soon after temperatures warm. Southern Belle was developed by Ken Quesenberry at the University of Florida.

Appin Forage Turnip
Appin.jpg
Appin forage turnip was bred for fast, vigorous establishment and quick maturity (60-100 days). It is firmly anchored in the ground for minimum wastage. Appin has a significantly higher proportion of leaf yield compared to other turnips, and is multi-crowned for improved re-growth potential. The high leaf-to-bulb ratio results in a very leafy crop with high digestibility.

Appin can be used to supplement or extend the grazing season when cool season pastures tend to slow down. It can also be used as a break crop in order to convert older pastures to different species and newer varieties. An annual crop gives a bigger window to eliminate the old undesirable forage through the use of herbicides, tillage and competition of the brassica crop itself.

Sowing and Establishment:
Sow Appin at 1-3 lbs. per acre. Plant at 1/4" to 1/2" deep. Seed can be no-tilled into suppressed sod or seeded into a conventionally prepared seedbed. If tillage is conducted, let the first flush of weeds germinate, then till the field one more time to control weeds. After final tillage pass, firm soil with culti-packer, then either drill or broadcast seed. Following seeding, culti-pack field once more to improve seed-to-soil contact. For extended grazing, plant in early to mid-summer (depending on climate). For summer grazing, plant in the spring after soil warms to 50F.

Pasja Hybrid Forage Turnip
pasja.jpg
Pasja is an early maturing (50-70 days) hybrid forage brassica. It has been bred for rapid growth and high performance, with a high leaf-to-bulb ratio. Pasja can be used over a much longer period of time than the traditional rape cultivars. It has excellent re-growth ability and will provide good leafy summer feed.Pasja is very productive and has produced over 4 tons of dry matter per acre. It produces exceptionally leafy forage with good nutritional value.

Applications:
Pasja can be used to supplement or extend the grazing season when cool season pastures tend to slow down. It adds high quality forage to the summer diet and can be sown along with BMR-Sorghum-Sudangrass. It will re-grow along with the sudangrass and provide multiple grazings. If sown with cereal grains or annual ryegrass in the spring or late summer, Pasja will provide excellent tonnage and high quality forage for multiple grazings. Pasja works well flown into standing corn with rye, oats and annual ryegrass in late summer. Pasja can also be used as a break crop in order to convert older pastures to different species and newer varieties. An annual crop gives a bigger window to eliminate old undesirable forage through the use of herbicides, tillage and competition of the brassica crop itself.

Sowing and Establishment:
Pasja should be seeded at 3-5 lbs. per acre when direct drilled. Use a higher rate when broadcasted. There should be 60lb/acre of available phosphate for sowing brassica crops. We also advise against fertilizing with sulfur-containing fertilizers.

Winton Swede
wintonlogo.jpg
High yields

New generation swede

Good disease resistance

High leaf proportion

White fleshed bulb

Description:

Winton
is a new generation late maturing swede noted for high yield potential and excellent disease resistance. Winton reaches full maturity from 180 days. With high leaf yield and excellent animal preference, Winton offers extended grazing for all livestock including dairy, beef, sheep and deer. Winton is characterized by its white-fleshed bulb, bronze skin color, and high leaf yield.

Winton can be used to extend the grazing season as the cool season pasture season ends. Both the bulbs and leaves are highly digestible. Suitable for cattle, sheep, and other livestock. It can also be used as a break crop in order to convert older pastures to different species and newer varieties. An annual crop gives a bigger window to eliminate the old undesirable forage through the use of herbicides, tillage, and the competition of the brassica crop itself.

Other Info:

Seeding & Establishment:

Plant in the spring after soil warms to 50F. Sow Winton at 1-½ lbs per acre. Plant at ¼" to ½" deep. Seed can be no-tilled into suppressed sod or seeded into a conventionally prepared seedbed. If tillage is conducted, let the first flush of weeds germinate, then till the field one more time to control weeds. After final tillage pass, firm soil with a culti-packer, then either drill or broadcast seed. Following seeding, culti-pack field once more to improve seed to soil contact.

Fertility Tips:
Follow soil test recommendations. Nitrogen: If not using manure, apply 75 lbs/A nitrogen at seeding followed by an additional 70 lbs/A after 60 to 80 days. Avoid fields high in sulfur.

Grazing Tips:
Leaves have very high energy and low fiber. Nitrate testing is advised for high fertility scenarios. Bulbs are very high in energy, but low in protein and fiber.
- Start by grazing for no more than 1-2 hours per day. Slowly increase to a maximum intake over at least 7-10 days to allow rumen to adjust.
- Feed extra fiber while grazing or allow access to stockpiled grass pasture.
- Consult with your nutritionist to ensure ration is balanced.

Abruzzi Ryegrain
Rymin_ryegrain.jpg
Rymin: High yield, fair winter hardiness, medium late, medium height, and good lodging resistance. Large seed of predominantly greenish-gray color and high test weight. Originated by Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station from a cross of Von Lochow and WR5. Released in 1973

Grain: Rye grain has a feeding value of about 85 to 90% that of corn, and contains more digestible protein and total digestible nutrients than oat or barley. Rye is most satisfactorily used when mixed with other grains at a proportion less than a third, because it is not highly palatable and is sticky when chewed

Cereal rye is an excellent soil-improving cover crop, with good potential for self regeneration. Ideal for building up poor soils for future plantings due to its deep roots.

How to Use Mineral/Salt Mixes
By Kent Kammermeyer

Mineral supplements should be placed in February (South) and March (North) to coincide with spring green-up. Any earlier than this will waste salt because it leaches downward through the soil during rain events before deer begin using it. Apply the mineral salt at the rate of about one 50-lb bag per 200 acres for easy access by all deer. Dig a shallow depression on a flat surface of clay soil and mix the salt with the soil. Reapply pure salt and mix with dirt in June. No salt is needed for fall or winter when deer quit using it anyway. Look for bag salt with an analysis of 25-40% Sodium Chloride, 16-18% Calcium and 8-10% Phosphorus. Block salt does not contain enough Calcium and Phosphorus which is essential for antler growth, doe lactation and fawn rearing. According to your soil tests, both are limiting on your propery and may be contributing to your skull fracture problems. Cooper Seed Co. has this high Calcium/Phosphorus salt for a very reasonable price.

Durana White Clover
Type: cool season perennial

Uses: Rackmaster Durana White Clover is the newest white clover on the market for whitetail deer management. Durana was developed by Dr. Joe Bouton, while at the University of Georgia, to persist under grazing pressure, tolerate acidic soils, compete aggressively with weeds and grasses and to tolerate low management situations. Durana, unlike ladino clover, is an intermediate white clover. Intermediate clovers have a medium leaf size and a leaf density that is very thick, from the ground to the top of the plant. This leaf density will help prevent weed invasion. Durana possesses a high stolon density; it has 97 stolons per square foot, unlike conventional ladino clovers which only have 52 per square foot. It is pre-inoculated and lime coated for easy seeding and optimal nitrogen fixation. Durana will outlast conventional ladino clovers in food plots and persist for years on good moisture holding soils. With protein levels of over 25% and digestibility of over 75%, Durana will make an excellent pure stand or combination planting for any food plot to feed, attract and hold game on your property. Durana is persistent, productive and a highly preerred white clover.

If under water to 3 to 5 days, the top growth will die but new growth will begin at the crown. Early forage production is excellent near the Gulf Coast where winters are mild. Berseem lacks cold tolerance and can winter-kill if planted too far north. Reseeding is poor because of low hard seed production.
